The South Carolina Youth Shooting Foundation was started by a few clay target shooting enthusiasts who were interested in creating an organization to enable youth a better opportunity to enjoy the art of clay target shooting. In 2008, the SCYSF was formed and recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In the first year of operation, the SCYSF had 377 youth shooters participate in skeet, trap, and sporting clay events. The first event was held at Partridge Creek Gun Club with 119 youth shooters participating. Our goal is to introduce youth to not only enjoy the outdoors, but also to learn safety with firearms, accuracy, and to meet other youth shooters. In addition, we use this avenue to instill basic life skills for our youth. We are excited about this program and the opportunities to work with youth. Sporting Clays is simply the vehicle with which we can deliver our message. And we continue to see growth each season.
